1940s ‘Make Do and Mend’ Mrs. Mop Apron Vintage Wartime Sewing Pattern

Price range: £8.99 through £10.99

Dating from 1942, this practical Mrs. Mop apron comes from the wartime “Make Do and Mend” era, when making use of fabric scraps and repurposing old clothes was very much part of everyday sewing.

The apron has overlapping front panels secured with a button, with ties to draw it neatly into shape. Originally designed to fit a 34–38″ (86–97 cm) bust, the simple construction also makes it relatively easy to adjust to suit.

Approximately 2 metres (2.2 yards) of 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric is required, although the design is particularly well suited to using remnants, fabric scraps or suitable sections of old garments.

The pattern includes clear instructions together with a helpful sewing guide for a little extra guidance while making the apron.
