1930s Cable Knit Polo Jumper Knitting Pattern – Short Sleeves

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

A pretty 1930s polo-style jumper with lovely cable stripes and a neat, fitted shape. The combination of textured cables, wide ribbed yokes and a smart buttoned collar gives this design plenty of character. With its short sleeves and waist-length finish, it would look lovely worn with a high-waisted skirt or trousers.

The jumper is knitted with single rib for the waistband, sleeve bands and collar, cable stripes across the body and sleeves, and wider ribbing across the upper sections.

The original pattern calls for approximately 170g (6 oz) of Sirdar Super Shetland 3-ply yarn, using old UK No. 9 (3.75mm) and No. 10 (3.25mm) knitting needles. You’ll also need a cable needle and four buttons.

The original tension is 8 stitches to the inch measured over the cable pattern on No. 9 needles.

A note about sizing: The original instructions don’t specify a bust measurement, but judging by the knitted section widths, I estimate this pattern would suit approximately a 32-inch bust. This is an estimate rather than a confirmed finished measurement, so please check the original measurements before starting.
