1960s Knitted Skirt Pattern – Three Moss Stitch Styles, Hips 36–40

This 1960s knitting pattern includes three simple knitted skirts.

One version is worked entirely in moss stitch, while the other two are knitted mainly in stocking stitch with moss stitch borders. The straightforward construction makes these a good choice if you are fairly new to garment knitting.

The skirts were originally knitted in Bairnswear Town and Country Tweed using old UK No. 9 (3.75 mm) needles.

Sizes are given to fit 36, 38 and 40-inch hips, with a finished length of approximately 19½ inches.

The stated tension is 11 stitches and 14 rows to 2 inches.

To fit hips: 36–40 inches.
