1950s–60s Cable Knit Collared Sweater Pattern – Bust 34–38

Dating from around the late 1950s or early 1960s, this knitting pattern is for a cable-knit sweater with a large collar.

The heavier yarn and bold cable pattern give the sweater a substantial, textured finish, with the oversized collar forming the main feature around the neckline.

Originally knitted in Greenock Big Wool, the pattern uses old UK No. 2 (7 mm) and No. 5 (4.5 mm) needles. As this is a vintage yarn, use the tension given in the pattern when choosing a modern substitute rather than relying on the original yarn name alone.

Three sizes are included, to fit bust measurements of 34, 36 and 38 inches.
