1940s Haslam Dresscutting Lingerie No. 4 – Underwear, Nightwear & Wartime Workwear

Haslam Illustrated Book of Drafting for Lingerie No. 4 is a varied 1940s collection combining lingerie and nightwear with practical everyday clothing and wartime workwear.

The lingerie designs include cami-knickers, French knickers, slips and panties, together with nightgowns, pyjamas and dressing gowns. The collection also includes blouses and pinafores, giving a wider choice of practical garments beyond lingerie alone.

A particularly interesting design is the Service Overall, a practical wartime garment associated with women’s working dress of the period and believed to have been worn by NAAFI girls.

The designs are created using the Haslam System of Dresscutting, allowing you to draft your chosen garment to your own measurements rather than working from a standard-sized sewing pattern.

To use the designs you will need the Haslam Foundation Drafting Instructions and Drafting Boards. These are used to prepare your personal foundation before adapting it with the drafting instructions for your chosen design.
