1950s Tweed Short Sleeve Sweater Knitting Pattern | Bust 34–38

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

Neat, practical and effortlessly stylish, this 1950s Tweed Short Sleeve Sweater is the kind of design that never really dates. The classic fitted shape is complemented by contrasting trims, giving it just enough detail while keeping the overall look clean and elegant. Originally intended to be knitted in a tweed-effect yarn, it looks equally attractive in plain shades, making it a wonderfully versatile addition to any handmade wardrobe.

The pattern is provided in three sizes to fit a 34, 36 or 38 inch (86, 91 or 97 cm) bust. It is worked in Moorland Tweed DK yarn, or with two strands of 3-ply yarn held together, with plain DK yarn used for the contrasting trims. The original pattern uses 4mm and 3.25mm knitting needles and is worked to a tension of 7½ stitches and 10 rows to one inch over stocking stitch.
