1950s Kimono Sleeve Dress Sewing Pattern – Street & Tea Length

This 1956 sewing pattern includes three versions of a kimono-sleeve dress, with a choice of street or ballerina/tea length.

The dress has a round front neckline, low V back and softly gathered skirt. The different versions allow it to be made as an everyday or occasion dress, while the photographs also show how the pattern can be adapted for a 1950s-style wedding dress.

One street-length version has contrasting trim set into the side seams. The ballerina-length version has two net overskirts and bodice trim fastening at the back, while the third version combines a street-length dress with a chiffon overskirt and contrasting cummerbund.

The photographed bridal version is made in silk dupion with a chiffon overskirt and crossover ties.

Suitable fabrics include lace, organdie, dotted Swiss, taffeta, silk and satin, with net or chiffon used for the overskirt versions.
