Late 1940s Peter Pan Collar Dress Sewing Pattern – Pocket Detail, Bust 36

Price range: £10.49 through £19.99

The oversized pockets are the feature that makes this late 1940s to early 1950s dress a little different. They extend upwards to form loops for the belt to pass through, drawing the waist in against the fuller four-panel skirt.

The bodice is simply shaped with a Peter Pan collar and button detail, with a choice of short sleeves or three-quarter length sleeves finished with small cuffs. The design sits nicely between the slimmer wartime silhouette and the fuller skirts that became increasingly popular towards the 1950s.

Suggested fabrics include fine woollens, plaid, lightweight suiting, rayon and cotton.

The pattern is sized for a 36 in (91.5 cm) bust, 30 in (76 cm) waist and 39 in (99 cm) hips and includes step-by-step instructions and a sewing guide.
