Carefully restored reproductions of original designs, ready for today’s makers.
Price range: £3.99 through £5.99
This 1940s knitting pattern is for a neat pussy bow blouse with contrasting short sleeves and yokes, a buttoned front and a softly tied collar. It’s also a clever design for using two shades of yarn, particularly when you have smaller amounts left from another project.
The blouse is worked mainly in reverse stocking stitch, with the back, front yokes and sleeves knitted in the darker shade and the fronts in a lighter contrast. A crocheted trim edges the fronts, although you could leave this off if you don’t crochet or substitute a suitable fabric trim. The pussy bow collar is worked in single rib.
The pattern is sized to fit a 32 inch (81cm) bust.
The original yarn requirement is 4 oz (114g) Patons Beehive Fingering 3 ply in the darker shade and 3 oz (86g) in the lighter shade. You will also need UK No. 10 (3.25mm) and No. 12 (2.75mm) knitting needles, 9 buttons and a medium crochet hook for the edging.
The stated tension is 7½ stitches to 1 inch on 3.25mm needles.
