1940s Pinafore Jumper Dress & Blouse Sewing Pattern – Short or Bishop Sleeves

Price range: £10.49 through £20.99

Dating from 1943, this wartime sewing pattern includes a pinafore or jumper dress with a separate blouse, giving you a complete and very wearable 1940s outfit.

The blouse buttons down the front below a neat notched collar and can be made with either full bishop sleeves or short sleeves. The pinafore is softly gathered below the shoulders and also has a notched collar. An inset belt defines the waist and joins the bodice to the skirt, which is finished with an inverted pleat at both the front and back. The pinafore fastens at the left side with buttons and buttonholes.

There are no fabric recommendations given with the pattern, but cotton, wool or lightweight suiting would be suitable choices for the pinafore. For the blouse, cotton, rayon or viscose would work well, depending on the finish you prefer.

The pattern is designed to fit a 36 inch bust, 30 inch waist and 39 inch hip.

I would suggest this pattern for an advanced beginner or more experienced sewer. It includes basic step-by-step instructions together with a helpful sewing guide.
