A smart 1930s jumper with an attractive diagonal stitch pattern running across the body and sleeves. The textured knitting gives this simple design plenty of interest, while the ribbed neckline, cuffs and waistband keep everything neatly fitted.
The jumper is worked in separate pieces, with the collar knitted separately and sewn into place.
The original pattern calls for 13 oz (approximately 370g) of Sirdar Supreme Wool, using UK No. 6 (5mm) and No. 8 (4mm) knitting needles.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to confirm the weight of the original yarn, so I wouldn’t like to recommend a modern equivalent without checking. The stated tension should help when choosing a suitable substitute, but do knit a tension square before starting.
Tension: 6 stitches and 7 rows to 1 inch (approximately 24 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm).
