1940s Women’s Fancy Stripe Jumper Knitting Pattern – Bust 32–34

Dating from 1948, this striped jumper is worked in three colours, with a main shade and two contrasting shades creating the patterned stripe design. It is also a useful pattern for making use of smaller amounts of yarn left from other projects.

Designed to fit a 32–34 inch (81–86 cm) bust, the original pattern uses Patons Beehive Fingering 3-ply yarn.

You will need approximately 4 oz (114 g) of the main shade, 3 oz (86 g) of the first contrast and 1 oz (29 g) of the second contrast.

The jumper is knitted using old UK No. 10 (3.25 mm) and No. 12 (2.75 mm) needles, with a required tension of 7½ stitches to 1 inch (2.5 cm).
