1940s Haslam Dresscutting Lingerie No. 3 – Underwear, Nightwear & Housewear

Haslam Illustrated Book of Drafting for Lingerie No. 3 is an extensive 1940s collection covering underwear, nightwear, housewear and practical everyday clothing.

The lingerie and nightwear designs include bras, petticoats, knickers and cami-knickers, pyjamas and nightgowns, together with a slumber cap. There are also dressing gowns, bed jackets, house gowns and make-up capes for wearing at home.

The collection extends well beyond lingerie, with overalls, smocks, aprons and pinafore dresses, plus skirts, blouses, waistcoat blouses and blousettes. Smaller details include jabots and collars, and the book also contains a man’s shirt.

This edition is more simply produced than some of the other Haslam books, suggesting that it may date from the wartime period.

The garments are created using the Haslam System of Dresscutting, allowing you to draft your chosen design to individual measurements rather than working from a standard-sized sewing pattern.

To use the designs you will need the Haslam Foundation Drafting Instructions and Drafting Boards. These provide the personal foundation used as the starting point for the designs in the book.
