1950s Twin Set Knitting Pattern – Raised Yoke Sweater & Cardigan

This 1950s twin set knitting pattern includes a short-sleeved sweater and matching cardigan, both finished with a distinctive raised yoke.

The two pieces are worked mainly in stocking stitch, with the raised yoke adding texture around the neckline and bringing the sweater and cardigan together as a coordinated set.

Originally knitted in Patons Beehive fingering 3-ply, the pattern uses 2.75 mm (No. 12) and 2.25 mm (No. 13) needles, together with a set of 2.75 mm double-pointed needles for working the yokes.

You’ll need approximately 15 oz (426 g) of 3-ply yarn to make the complete set. The stated tension is 8½ stitches and 10½ rows to one inch over stocking stitch using 2.75 mm needles.

The pattern is written to fit a 35–36 inch bust. Wear the sweater and cardigan together as a traditional twin set or separately.
