1950s Sundress & Button-On Cape Sewing Pattern – Hip Pockets

This vintage sewing pattern is for a fitted sundress with a matching short cape that buttons directly onto the shoulder straps.

The sundress has a defined waist, projecting hip pockets and a centre pleat in the skirt. It can be made and worn on its own by simply omitting the cape attachment buttons.

The short flared cape has stitched detailing and an upturned collar and attaches to the dress with two buttons at either side of the shoulder straps.

No original fabric recommendations are given. Linen, chambray, cotton and similar light to medium-weight woven fabrics would suit the design.

The pattern is drafted for a 36-inch bust, 30-inch waist and 39-inch hip.
