1953 Off-Shoulder Bardot Dress Sewing Pattern – Full Circle Skirt, Bust 34″

Price range: £10.49 through £19.99

Dating from 1953, this off-the-shoulder dress has a softly gathered peasant-style bodice and full circle skirt, creating the characteristic full-skirted shape of the period.

The Bardot-style neckline and short sleeves are elasticated, giving the bodice its gathered shape as well as making it comfortable to wear. The dress opens at the left side with a placket, which can be finished with either a zip or the more traditional hook-and-eye fastening.

Polished cotton, cotton eyelet, voile and taffeta would all work particularly well for this design, depending on whether you prefer a softer summer dress or a more structured finish.

The pattern is sized to fit a 34″ (86 cm) bust, 28″ (71 cm) waist and 37″ (94 cm) hip.

Suitable for an advanced beginner, the pattern includes clear markings and step-by-step instructions together with a helpful sewing guide for additional guidance.
