1950s Evening Dress Sewing Pattern – Shoulder Straps & Back Drape

This 1954 sewing pattern is for an evening dress with a choice of two lengths and two different treatments across the shoulders.

One version is made with narrow shoulder straps, while the alternative has a soft drape extending from shoulder to shoulder across the back.

View A is particularly suited to lace, while other suggested fabrics include crepe, taffeta, satin and tissue shantung. The different fabric choices allow the same pattern to be made with either a softer drape or a more structured finish.

The pattern is best suited to an intermediate sewer.
