1950s Evening Gown Sewing Pattern – Deep V Back, Two Lengths

This 1956 sewing pattern is for a one-piece evening gown with an elongated bodice and a full flared skirt, with a choice of two skirt lengths.

The skirt joins the extended bodice at the sides and across the back. At the front is an oval neckline, while the back falls into a deep V.

The different views include a sleeveless version or long fitted sleeves set into dropped armholes, giving several options from the same pattern.

View A is particularly suited to lace, while the other versions can be made in taffeta, shantung, slipper satin or faille, all of which have enough body to show the shape of the gown.

With its more involved construction, this pattern is best suited to an experienced sewer.
