1940s Women’s Dungarees, Blouse & Playsuit Sewing Pattern

From the 1940s comes this very wearable dungarees and fitted blouse pattern, with the added option of making a shorter playsuit version.

The dungarees have a great period shape, with the waist sitting high at the front and dipping lower at the back, where they fasten with buttons. Make them full length in denim, drill or chambray, or shorten them to create the playsuit version.

The blouse is fitted with darts to give it a neat shape and is designed to sit nicely underneath the dungarees. It’s also a useful pattern in its own right and could easily be made to wear with skirts or trousers.

To fit:
Bust 36 ins (91.5 cm) – Hip 40 ins (101.5 cm)

For the dungarees, try denim, drill or chambray. Cotton, cotton blends or viscose would all work well for the blouse.

The pattern comes with full period instructions and is fairly easy to make, so you don’t need to be a particularly experienced dressmaker to tackle this one.
