1940s Shirtwaist Day Dress Sewing Pattern

This 1943 sewing pattern is for a day dress with a gathered blouse-style bodice, buttoned front band and tied collar.

There are plenty of options within the pattern. The dress can be made with long or short sleeves, with or without pockets, and the ruffle trimming is optional.

The skirt can also be made in two different ways, either sectioned into gores or with gathering at the front, giving quite a different look depending on the version you choose.

A particularly useful wartime dress pattern if you enjoy making authentic 1940s clothing, with enough variations to make more than one version.
