1940s Women’s Striped Blouse Knitting Pattern – Bust 33–35

Dating from 1944, this short-sleeved knitted blouse uses alternating bands of moss stitch and stocking stitch to create its striped design. Small holes worked into the stocking-stitch bands are embroidered afterwards in a contrasting yarn, adding another decorative detail to the pattern.

The blouse has a neat 1940s shape with short sleeves and is designed to fit a 33–35 inch (84–89 cm) bust. The finished length from the top of the shoulder is approximately 19½ inches (49.5 cm), with a 6 inch (15 cm) sleeve seam.

The original pattern uses 3-ply yarn and old UK No. 9 and No. 10 knitting needles. As modern yarns can differ from their vintage equivalents, it is always worth checking your tension before beginning.
