1940s Ladies Fair Isle Cardigan Knitting Pattern (1948)

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

This charming Fair Isle cardigan pattern dates from 1948 and features a classic colour work
design that is just as wearable today as it was in the late 1940s. The pattern includes a chart
for the Fair Isle motif and was originally knitted in 4-ply fingering yarn with the contrasting
colours worked in doubled 2-ply, although modern 4-ply yarn can be used throughout.

Designed to fit a 34–36 inch bust, the finished cardigan measures approximately 20½ inches
from shoulder to hem, with 18½ inch sleeve seams. The original pattern calls for white, red
and blue yarn, a pair of No. 9 and No. 11 knitting needles, 8 buttons and a medium crochet
hook.

A lovely addition to any vintage knitting collection, perfect for knitters who enjoy authentic
1940s fashion and timeless Fair Isle colourwork.
