1940s Evening Dress Sewing Pattern – Pouf Peplum, Bust 34

Price range: £10.49 through £20.99

This 1940s sewing pattern is for an evening dress with an optional pouf peplum, creating two quite different versions from the same pattern.

The dress has a deep V neckline, cap sleeves and a draped midriff girdle. The skirt is cut in five gores, while the optional rounded peplum adds fullness around the hip line and gives the second version its distinctive 1940s shape.

No original fabric recommendations are given. Fabrics with some drape would suit the design, including charmeuse satin, crepe satin, crepe and velvet.

The pattern is drafted for a 34-inch bust, 28-inch waist and 37-inch hip and is best suited to an intermediate sewer.

Instructions are included, together with an additional sewing guide to help with construction.

Bust 34 inches – Waist 28 inches – Hip 37 inches.
