This 1940s wartime sewing pattern is for a softly fitted frock that can be made at a shorter length for day or formal wear, or lengthened to create an evening dress.

The bodice is softly gathered at both fronts to create a yoke effect, fastening with a single button. There is also a choice of short or three-quarter sleeves, giving you several ways to make the dress from the same pattern.

The original pattern does not specify fabrics, but satin or silk would work well for an evening version, while viscose, rayon, cotton and other fabrics with some drape would suit the shorter version.

The pattern is for a 34-inch (86 cm) bust and 28-inch (71 cm) waist and is best suited to an intermediate sewer.
