1940s Women’s V-Neck Sweater Knitting Pattern – 4-Ply, Bust 37

This 1940s V-neck sweater has a simple fitted shape with short sleeves and a clean, deep neckline. It is an uncomplicated design that really shows off the neat proportions of 1940s knitwear.

The original pattern was knitted in Patons Beehive String, a 4-ply yarn, using old UK No. 7 and No. 10 knitting needles.

The finished sweater measures 37 inches (94 cm) around the bust at the underarm, with a length of 19½ inches (49.5 cm) from the top of the shoulder and a 6 inch (15 cm) underarm sleeve seam.

The required tension is 6½ stitches to 1 inch (2.5 cm) measured across the stocking stitch.
