A charming three-piece crochet set from 1934, featuring a Tyrolean-style hat with a turned-up brim, a matching scarf and a rather unusual shaped handbag. The striped design looks particularly striking in red and grey, although you could easily choose your own colour combination.
The hat has a lovely shaped brim, while the scarf and bag carry through the same striped pattern. The bag is finished with wide crocheted handles and decorative buttons, making this a really attractive set to wear together or separately.
All three pieces are worked in 4-ply yarn. The original pattern calls for Ramada 4-ply, using 6 oz (170g) of red, 3 oz (85g) of dark grey and 2 oz (57g) of light grey. You’ll also need a 2.75mm crochet hook, six buttons and one yard of covered wire.
The finished hat measures 33 inches around the brim and 9½ inches from the centre crown to the brim. The scarf measures 36 inches long, while the bag is 16 inches across the bottom and 8 inches deep.
