1930s Women’s Twin Set Knitting Pattern – Striped Jumper & V-Neck Cardigan

Price range: £3.99 through £6.99

This 1938 summer twin set combines a striped jumper with a plain V-neck cardigan, both worked mainly in stocking stitch with single rib welts. Worn together or separately, they make a particularly practical pair, and the clean shapes and broad stripes still work very well for a modern wardrobe.

The jumper is knitted in contrasting horizontal stripes with a round neck and long sleeves, while the coordinating cardigan is kept plain with a simple V-neck front.

The original yarn used was W. B. Rosedale Fingering 3-ply. The jumper requires 7 oz (approx. 200g) and the cardigan 8 oz (approx. 230g). Both are worked using old UK No. 9 (3.75mm) and No. 11 (3mm) knitting needles.

The tension is 7 stitches to 1 inch in width on No. 9 (3.75mm) needles.

The original pattern does not give a specific bust size, instead providing measurements across the knitted sections. From these measurements, I would estimate the pattern to fit approximately a 34–36 inch bust.
