1930s Women’s Button-Up Sweater Knitting Pattern – Bow Neck & Waist Detail, Bust 32

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

This 1930s sweater is worked entirely in rib, giving it a neat, close-fitting shape, with a large bow at the neckline and a matching bow belt defining the waist. The original colour combination was turquoise with chocolate brown for the bow and belt, with little turquoise spots worked into the contrast.

The buttoned front is rather clever: it actually fastens with press studs, while the ten buttons are purely decorative.

The original yarn used was Patons & Baldwins 3-ply Super-Scotch Fingering, requiring 8 oz (approx. 230g) in the main colour and 2 oz (approx. 57g) in the contrast. It is worked on No. 10 (3.25mm) knitting needles, with a No. 10 (3.25mm) crochet hook also required.

The tension is 7 stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch.

To fit a 32-inch bust.
