1930s Women’s Blackberry Stitch Cardigan Vintage Knitting Pattern – 36″ Bust

A neat 1930s knitted cardigan with a fitted shape, short sleeves and a smart pointed collar. The body is worked in a textured Blackberry stitch, contrasted with plain knitted bands at the front, collar, cuffs and lower edge. Seven buttons complete the front fastening, with instructions also given for making crocheted button loops.

The finished cardigan measures approximately 36 inches around the bust, with a 21-inch front length, 19½-inch back length and 7-inch sleeve seam.

Worked in 4-ply wool, using approximately 171g (6 oz), with 3mm and 4mm knitting needles. A 3mm crochet hook is also required for the button-loop option.

Tension is 8 stitches to 1 inch across the Blackberry stitch pattern.

A lovely example of a practical 1930s cardigan that would still make a very wearable knit today.
