1930s Vintage Knitted Jacket and Skirt Pattern | Elegant Women’s Suit in Two Sizes

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

This is a lovely Cossack-style ladies’ suit from 1939, full of character and vintage charm. The
design is worked in simple moss stitch, with striking Astrakhan-style borders on the jacket
that really give it that classic late-1930s look. It’s a wonderfully straightforward and fast knit,
making it ideal if you want a satisfying project without anything too complicated.

The original pattern was knitted using W.B. Kwiknit for the main suit and Kwiknit Astrakhan
for the trims. Both yarns are roughly equivalent to an Aran weight (10-ply, around 8 wpi),
making it easy to substitute with modern yarns.

This pattern is sized to fit a 36 inch bust for the jacket and 40 inch hips for the skirt. To complete
the full suit, you’ll need approximately 28oz (around 800g) of main yarn and 4oz (around 120g)
of Astrakhan yarn for the decorative borders. The pattern was originally worked on a pair of Old
UK No. 6 needles, with a tension of 4½ stitches to 1 inch.
