1930s Two-Way Jumper Knitting Pattern – Cable Knit Jacket

Price range: £3.99 through £6.99

A clever little design from 1936 that gives you two different looks in one! Originally called the Two-Way Jumper, this fitted knitted jacket features an attractive cable stitch pattern, long sleeves and a flattering waistline.

Wear it buttoned up to create a smart square neckline, or leave the front open to form a lovely wide collar, perfect for showing off a pretty scarf or blouse underneath.

The jacket has a moss stitch border, two decorative buttons and a belt to draw in the waist. It’s a wonderfully versatile design that would look just as good with a skirt today as it did in the 1930s.

The original yarn was 12 oz (approximately 340g) of Sirdar Kasha wool, worked on old UK No. 9 (3.75mm) and No. 10 (3.25mm) knitting needles. You’ll also need two buttons and a belt. Crochet loops are worked at the waist to hold the belt in place.

Designed for a 34-inch bust, stretching to 36 inches, with an underarm sleeve measurement of 21½ inches, including the cuff.

Skill level: Intermediate, particularly if you’re comfortable working cable stitches and shaping.
