1930s Smocked Yoke Jumper with Buckled Bows Knitting Pattern

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

Such a pretty little jumper from 1936, with a smocked yoke and matching vest-style front, three little buckled bows and a neat collar. I particularly like the sleeves, which have a gentle puff around the elbow, giving the jumper a lovely 1930s shape.

The rest is knitted in stocking stitch and rib, making a nice contrast with the decorative smocking. It’s a lovely style to wear with a skirt or a pair of high-waisted trousers.

The pattern is written for a 34–35 inch bust and originally used approximately 200g of Patons & Baldwins Halcyon 3-ply wool, with old UK size 13 (2.25mm) and size 10 (3.25mm) needles. You’ll also need three small buckles to finish the bows.

The original tension is 8 stitches and 9 rows to 1 inch, and an old UK needle size conversion chart is included.
