1950s Beaded Shortie Cardigan Knitting Pattern – Bust 32–40

This 1950s knitting pattern is for a shortie cardigan decorated with embroidery, beads, pearls and rhinestones across the front.

The cardigan is worked mainly in stocking stitch, providing a simple background for the decorative embroidery and beadwork. Gold thread can also be incorporated into the design for additional detail.

Originally designed for 3-ply fingering or bouclé yarn, the pattern uses old UK No. 11 and No. 12 needles. A needle conversion chart is included for modern equivalents.

Five sizes are included, to fit bust measurements of 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 inches.

Made in ivory or cream with pearl and rhinestone embellishment, the design could also work particularly well as a knitted bridal cardigan or wedding cover-up.
