1950s Princess Line Coat Sewing Pattern – Statement Collar, Bust 34″

Dating from 1953, this fitted coat has a beautifully shaped silhouette with a generous statement collar and softly built-up neckline. The front fastens with three buttons, while the long sleeves can be worn straight or turned back to form cuffs.

Side pockets are included but are optional, allowing for either a cleaner line or a more practical finish.

The pattern is sized to fit a 34″ (86 cm) bust, 28″ (71 cm) waist and 37″ (94 cm) hip.

Flannel, tweed, wool broadcloth and textured wools such as bouclé would all work particularly well. A fabric with enough body to hold the shaping will make the most of the coat’s structured design.
