1930s Women’s Diagonal Knit Jumper Knitting Pattern with Tie Collar

Dating from 1933, this women’s knitted jumper has a wonderful diagonal pattern that winds its way up the body, giving a very distinctive early 1930s look. The tie collar is worked in the same diagonal design, with a contrasting second colour adding definition.

The original was knitted in royal blue with a white contrast, although the two-colour design would work beautifully in plenty of other combinations.

The pattern originally called for Azalea Crochet Wool. Patons Azalea appears to have been a 3-ply yarn, so a modern 3-ply of a suitable tension would be a good starting point when choosing a substitute.

You will need approximately 7 oz (200g) of the main colour and 1 oz (28g) of the contrast colour.

Needles: UK No. 11 (3mm) and UK No. 9 (3.75mm).
