Vintage 1930s Ladies Astrakhan Jacket and Hat Knitting Pattern

This charming 1937 knitting pattern includes a cropped Astrakhan jacket and matching cap,
a stylish set that perfectly captures late-1930s fashion. The jacket features a simple edge-to-
edge front with a neat stand-up collar, fastened with either a grosgrain ribbon bow or
decorative clip. The coordinating cap is finished with a matching bow trim, creating a
smart and feminine outfit that looks just as appealing today as it did when first published.

The original design was knitted in W.B. Kwiknit Astrakhan Wool using 5.00mm needles.
While the exact yarn weight is no longer known, Kwiknit yarns were generally similar to
modern DK-weight yarns. Approximately 964g (34oz) of Astrakhan-style yarn is required
to complete both the jacket and cap.

Designed to fit a 34–35 inch bust, the pattern has a tension of approximately 3 stitches
per inch.
