This 1940s sweater features a fine lace stitch with soft angora stripes worked in waves, giving it
a light, textured finish without feeling overly detailed. It’s knitted in a very fine yarn, originally
2 ply fingering, which is closer to a modern lace weight or fine 3 ply, so it’s worth checking your
tension before starting.
The original yarns were Patons Beehive fingering and Fuzzy Wuzzy angora, creating a gentle
contrast between the base fabric and the striped sections. You’ll need around 4 oz of the main
yarn and 2 oz of angora, worked on old UK sizes 10, 11, and 13 needles.
The pattern is sized to fit a 32, 34, or 36 inch bust, with a tension of 9 stitches and 10 rows per
square inch over the pattern on size 10 needles.
