1940s Haslam Dresscutting No. 19a – Wartime Renovation, Dresses & Bridal Wear

Haslam Illustrated Book of Drafting No. 19a is a wartime collection featuring a particularly varied selection of 1940s clothing, including designs for adapting and remaking existing garments.

The book includes renovation dresses, day and tea dresses, suits and coats, together with evening wear, bridal designs and a selection of children’s styles. The renovation designs are particularly interesting, reflecting the practical approach to dressmaking during a period when existing clothing and available fabric often had to be used carefully.

The garments are created using the Haslam System of Dresscutting, allowing you to draft your chosen design to your own measurements rather than working from a standard-sized sewing pattern.

To use the designs you will need the Haslam Foundation Drafting Instructions and Drafting Boards. These provide the personal foundation used as the starting point for the designs in the book.
