Haslam System of Dresscutting – Foundation Drafting Instructions

The Foundation Drafting Instructions are the starting point for using the Haslam System of Dresscutting. Instead of working from a standard-sized sewing pattern, the Haslam system allows you to draft a foundation to your own measurements and then use it with the individual Haslam design books to create the garment patterns.

The instructions take you through preparing the basic Haslam foundation, which can then be adapted using your chosen design from the 1930s, 1940s or 1950s Haslam books.

You will also need the Haslam Measurement Chart/Drafting Chart to create your foundation. Once your foundation is prepared, you can choose from the individual design books to draft dresses, blouses, skirts, suits, coats, evening wear and other original vintage designs.
