1950s Wiggle Dress & Jacket Sewing Pattern

This 1950s sewing pattern pairs a fitted V-neck wiggle dress with a matching button-front jacket, giving you both pieces for a complete outfit.

The dress is shaped with darts through the bodice and skirt and can be made with either cap sleeves or three-quarter sleeves. A back vent gives a little extra room for movement while keeping the narrow, fitted shape of the skirt.

The matching jacket is also darted for shape, buttons at the front and is fully lined for a neat finish. Wear the two pieces together as a suit, or make the dress on its own.

Suitable fabrics include cotton satin, cotton, fine woollens, linen, brocade and velvet, so the pattern can work equally well as a day dress or something a little dressier.

The pattern is for a 36-inch bust, 29-inch waist and 39-inch hip, and is best suited to an intermediate sewer who is comfortable making fitted garments.
