1950s Magyar Striped Sweater Knitting Pattern – Raised Blister Stitch, Bust 36–38

This vintage knitting pattern is for a Magyar-style sweater worked in alternating bands of three contrasting colours.

The stripes are knitted in a raised blister pattern, giving the sweater a strongly textured finish rather than simple flat colour bands.

Originally designed for Patons Beehive Fingering 3-ply, the pattern requires approximately 3 oz (85 g) each of a dark, medium and light shade.

The sweater is worked using old UK No. 12 and No. 11 double-pointed needles. A crochet hook is required for finishing, together with four press studs.

The stated tension across two blister motifs is 1¼ inches when lightly patted out.

To fit bust: 36–38 inches.
