1950s Ruched Halter Dress Sewing Pattern – Matching Bolero & Stole

This vintage sewing pattern is for a halter dress with a ruched front bodice and gathered skirt, with patterns for a matching bolero and stole also included.

The bodice is ruched across the front and plain at the back, with a halter strap at the neckline and a zip fastening. The skirt is softly gathered into the bodice at the waist.

Although the ruching gives the dress a more involved appearance, most of the construction is relatively straightforward, and the pattern instructions explain how to create the gathered front.

Suitable fabrics include silk, rayon or viscose and cotton. Taffeta would give the dress more structure, while organdie or a similar sheer fabric could also be considered for an evening version.
