This 1950s knitting pattern is for a two-colour sweater with a distinctive asymmetrical striped design across the front.
The back and sleeves are knitted in a single colour, while the contrasting front is worked in an uneven stripe pattern. A small opening at the back neck fastens with four buttons, with a little crochet required to finish the edge.
The sweater is worked mainly in stocking stitch and was originally knitted in Patons Beehive Fingering 2-ply.
The pattern requires approximately 4 oz (114 g) of the main shade and 1 oz (29 g) of the contrasting shade. Old UK No. 11 (3 mm) and No. 12 (2.75 mm) needles are used, together with a No. 12 (2.75 mm) crochet hook and four small buttons.
To fit bust: 33–34 inches.
