1950s Angora Bolero Knitting Pattern – Bust 36–40

This 1956 knitting pattern is for a soft Angora bolero, cropped to sit neatly over a dress and fastening at the bust.

Originally knitted in Bucilla Imported Angora, the bolero would work particularly well as a lightweight cover-up for a 1950s-style dress or as an Angora bridal bolero.

The original yarn is described in some references as a fine 4-ply/fingering yarn, but when choosing a modern substitute it is best to work from the stated pattern tension rather than yarn weight alone.

The tension is 5 stitches and 7 rows to 1 inch on old UK No. 8 (4 mm) needles.

Finished measurement when buttoned at the bust: 36 (38, 40) inches.
