1940s Long Sleeve Winter Sweater Knitting Pattern Bust 34

A 1940s long-sleeved sweater worked in a textured Link pattern and sized to fit a 34″ (86 cm) bust. The pattern also includes helpful guidance for increasing the size.

The original yarn was Lincoln Mills “Daphne” Crochet Wool, a vintage wool yarn generally classified as light fingering weight. You will need approximately 9 oz (256 g), together with UK No. 10 (3.25 mm) and UK No. 12 (2.75 mm) knitting needles.

As the original yarn is no longer available, choose a modern light fingering or similar fine yarn that allows you to achieve the stated tension. A fine 4-ply may also be worth sampling, but I strongly recommend knitting a tension square before beginning as modern yarns can vary considerably.

Tension: 7½ stitches and 9 rows to 1″ (2.5 cm).
