This lovely 1940s cardigan blouse has a really distinctive look, with its deep v-neck,
short sleeves and those charming oversized crochet-covered buttons down the front.
There are also optional instructions for adding shoulder pads if you’d like to give it
that classic structured silhouette of the era.
It was originally designed in Fleisher’s “Krinky Crepe,” which seems to have disappeared
over time, but based on the needle size and gauge it likely translates to a modern 3–4 ply
yarn. As always with vintage patterns, it’s worth checking your own tension to get the best
result.
The pattern uses US size 2 needles (2.75 mm), with a size 2 hook (2.5 mm) for finishing details.
Gauge/Tension is 7 stitches and 11 rows to 1 inch, blocked, and the stitch pattern works in
multiples of six. I’ve included a needle conversion chart, along with a helpful hints page with
guidance for adjusting sizing and working the pattern more comfortably.
The original size is a US 16, to fit approximately a 35 inch bust.
