1940s Striped Sleeveless Sweater Knitting Pattern 34-36 Bust

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

This 1940s sleeveless jumper has a square neckline and contrasting striped yoke, with three large buttons fastening along one side. The body is worked in stocking stitch, giving the patterned yoke and unusual side fastening plenty of prominence.

Designed to fit a 34–36 inch (86–91 cm) bust, the jumper is knitted in 3-ply wool using approximately 6 oz (171 g) in total: 4 oz (114 g) of the lighter shade and 2 oz (57 g) of the darker shade.

You will also need old UK No. 10 (3.25 mm) and No. 11 (3 mm) knitting needles, together with three large buttons.

The required tension is 7½ stitches to 1 inch (2.5 cm) on No. 10 (3.25 mm) needles.

As modern yarns can differ from their vintage equivalents, always check your tension before beginning.
