1940s Moss Stitch Cardigan Knitting Pattern with Picot Edging – Bust 34–36 Inches

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

This 1940s moss-stitch cardigan has a neat little collar, softly puffed sleeves and contrasting picot edging that highlights its panelled design. It’s a lovely choice if you enjoy knitwear with a little decorative detail.

The cardigan is worked in panels, with a final row of double crochet around the edges to give it a tidy finish. The contrast colour picks out the collar, front and sleeves, so you can keep the two-colour look shown or choose your own combination.

Designed to fit a 34–36 inch bust, the pattern originally used 9 oz (approximately 255 g) of Nursery Viyella 3-ply yarn: 7 oz (198 g) in the main colour and 2 oz (57 g) in the contrast colour. You’ll also need a pair each of No. 10 (3.25 mm) and No. 12 (2.75 mm) knitting needles, eight buttons and a medium crochet hook.

The supplied tension reads “6½ stitches = 20 rows in moss stitch on No. 10 (3.25 mm) needles.
