1940s Mens Cable Knit Sweater Knitting Pattern | Large Size, Adjustable Fit

This classic vintage sweater was designed especially for the big man, featuring a timeless
cable pattern that gives the garment plenty of character and traditional style.

The main instructions are written for a 44–46 inch chest, making it ideal for larger sizes.
However, the pattern also includes guidance for knitting a smaller version, so it can be
adapted if required.

The original pattern calls for thick sports wool, worked on No. 12 and No. 8 needles for
the larger size. Based on the needle sizes suggested, a good modern substitute would
be DK weight yarn.

For the smaller size, the sweater is worked in 4-ply yarn and is designed to fit
approximately a 40 inch chest.
