This lovely 1940s wartime “Make Do & Mend” striped sweater is the perfect project for using
up your yarn oddments. Designed in a time of rationing, it turns leftover scraps into a cheerful,
colourful jumper with real vintage charm.
Originally written for 3 ply on No. 9 and No. 12 needles, you can also try 4 ply if you check your
tension first. It’s ideal if you have lots of small amounts of yarn waiting to be used.
Fits a 34 inch bust, measuring 18 inches from shoulder to ribbing, with a 3 inch sleeve seam
for that classic 1940s shape.
